Greetings from the Mayor
Greetings,

My name is Martin Woodruff and I've been a member of the City Council Since November 2005, serving as Mayor of Decatur since May 2012. I was raised here, and obviously believe that Decatur is the greatest city in the country in which to reside. Decatur is far enough from the DFW Metroplex to enjoy the country life, yet close enough to commute.   I'm a graduate of Decatur High School and the University of Texas at Arlington. I served in the U.S. Army for 9 years, during which time I served in Vietnam. I am retired from a twenty-year career with Poco Graphite, Inc., the largest company located in Decatur. I am currently self-employed as a business management consultant.

My dream and vision for Decatur has always been to make it a place where families want to live, work, raise children and retire.  We have an excellent education system with a large 3A High School and a local campus of Weatherford College.

Our outstanding medical facilities include Wise Regional Health System, which operates a new 99 bed, all private room hospital with full emergency and surgical capabilities, a rehabilitation facility, a large dialysis center and a cancer treatment center.

The economic climate in Decatur is excellent (along with our natural climate).  With a pro-growth attitude among our city leaders and economic development corporation, our city has become a retail, restaurant, and shopping center for several counties in the North Texas area. Our retail marketing area population is estimated at over 66,000.

My wife Jana and I ask that you come and visit the city for a day, or a lifetime.

We welcome you!

Mayor Martin Woodruff
