The Municipal Court is located inside City Hall and handles only Class C Misdemeanors filed by the Decatur Police Department.  Listed below is information that may be helpful in handling your case:

• We are unable to assist you with your citation until it has been filed with the Court. Therefore we ask that you give us three business days before contacting the Court about your Citation.

• Please make sure to reference your citation number on all correspondence.

• If you were not given a ticket instruction handout with your citation please refer to the Ticket Instruction sheet that is available on this website.

• If you feel that you are not guilty of the offense as charged, it will be necessary for you to appear before the Municipal Court Judge. If you wish to be heard by the Judge, it is necessary that you request a hearing date in person, or in writing by the due date/appearance date on the bottom of the citation. You will be placed on a Court Docket and it will require you or your attorney to appear in person. 

• The Court Costs for Defensive Driving for a citation received outside of a school zone is $109.10. The Court Costs for Defensive Driving for a citation received in a school zone is $134.10. If mailed these fees must be accompanied by a ticket instruction sheet, copy of your valid Texas DL, and your current proof of insurance.

• You must contact the Court in person or have your request postmarked by the due date/appearance date that is located on the bottom of your citation in order to be granted defensive driving.

• Any person 16 or under must appear in person with a parent or legal guardian. Please contact the Court for more information regarding your appearance.
